DSPM and DLP were built to answer two different questions in two different places. DSPM asks what sensitive data an organization has, where it lives, who can reach it, and how exposed it is. DLP asks whether a specific piece of data is about to leave and whether that should be allowed.

Both questions are more important than ever. But for years, most organizations have answered them with separate tools that never talked to each other. AI is what makes that separation expensive. Data is sprawling across more services, and every one of them is another way out.

A file classified in the cloud yesterday gets downloaded today and pasted into a desktop AI app. The moment it reaches the device, cloud tools lose sight of it, and everything they knew about that file stops mattering. The tool that can see the action has no idea what the data is worth.

That is the gap Sentra and Bold are closing together.

TL;DR

Sentra continuously discovers, classifies, and governs sensitive data across cloud infrastructure, SaaS applications, databases, and on-premises environments, using classifiers tuned to each organization's own data. Bold runs AI on the endpoint to classify data by meaning, analyze intent, and stop data loss in real time. By connecting the two, every enforcement decision on the endpoint carries the full business context of the data behind it.

Why DSPM + Endpoint DLP?

Every data security program is trying to achieve the same thing: keep sensitive data from ending up where it shouldn't. DSPM and endpoint DLP both work toward that, from opposite ends. But when they don't share context, and usually they don't, the endpoint ends up making the highest-stakes decisions with the least information.

Each has part of the full context:

  1. Your cloud classification stops at the download. Your DSPM can tell you a file is highly sensitive, who owns it, and how exposed it is. But once it's on the device, that context is gone.
  2. On-device classification can't know what the business knows. Endpoint DLP can see the file, the action, and who's taking it. What it can't see is everything that happened before: who owns the data, who already has access, how exposed it's been, what the organization already decided about it.

The result? Incomplete information at the moment of action. That produces false positives that risk disrupting legitimate work, or (perhaps, worse) false negatives that let sensitive data leave the device. Faced with enough noisy false positives, security teams resort to turning blocking off. That's how a prevention tool becomes a detection-only tool, and how a program meant to reduce risk ends up generating alerts instead.

Bold + Sentra: Full Context at the Point of Action

Sentra brings deep intelligence about data at rest. Bold brings context as data moves and transforms on the device. Connected, every enforcement decision on the endpoint is made with the full picture behind it.

What Sentra brings: a live picture of sensitive data across every environment where it sits at rest. Not a point-in-time inventory, but continuously updated:

  • Classification learned from each customer's own data, including proprietary data types that out-of-the-box classifiers miss
  • Data owners and business context
  • Identity-aware mapping of which users and AI agents can reach each file
  • Data exposure and risk posture
  • Compliance and governance requirements

What Bold brings: AI models running locally on the device, so decisions get made where the data moves with no round trip and no latency:

  • Semantic AI data classification, on the device
  • Full lineage on any file
  • Human activity distinguished from AI activity
  • Enforcement at the moment of action

How it works together: when someone uploads a file to an unsanctioned AI tool, copies it to a personal account, or moves it to removable media, Bold weighs what Sentra knows about the data alongside what it sees on the device. With that valuable context, Bold can make a better policy enforcement decision.

An example: An analyst uploads a quarterly financial model to a personal ChatGPT account to get help building charts. Sentra has already classified the file as highly sensitive. Bold sees the upload, reads that label alongside what it sees on the device, recognizes the destination as an unapproved personal account, and blocks it. Without Sentra's classification, the policy would likely fall back to coaching the user toward the sanctioned tool, and a single override would put the data out the door.

What we deliver, together

Connecting the two closes the gap between knowing what data matters and being able to act on it.

  • More accurate policy, without more tuning. Endpoint decisions reflect classifications that are already current, including the custom classifiers Sentra learns from each customer's own data.
  • Enforcement proportional to real business risk. Sensitivity, ownership, exposure, lineage, and intent all feed the same decision, so the response matches what's actually at stake.
  • AI governance that reaches the desktop. Coverage extends to the AI tools and agents that never touch a managed browser or cross a gateway.
  • One definition of sensitive, everywhere. The same understanding of the data governs the cloud and the device, so teams stop reconciling two versions of the truth.

Looking ahead

Organizations shouldn’t have to choose between understanding their data and protecting it. Sentra makes that understanding continuous and current. Bold makes it actionable at the point where data leaves, in real time, on the device itself. AI is widening the gap between knowing and stopping. Integrations like these close it.
